Health Center
Western’s Health Center is located on the south side of campus near the student parking lots. The health center is often not taken advantage of even though students pay a fee to use it in tuition. They are useful for things other than just when you are deathly sick and can’t make it to class. They even do yearly exams if you can’t make it to your hometown doctor for a checkup.

Rec Center
The Wade King Student Recreation Center is still fairly new to the South of the WWU Campus. This facility is free to use as long as you are taking at least six credits at Western. It was built specifically for students so that school sports teams would not get in the way of using it. It is equipped with a rock wall, swimming pool, weight room, basketball courts and more. It also has classes that you can take like yoga, zumba, and kickboxing. One thing that is great is not most work out machines have a personal TV to watch while you on the treadmill or elliptical.

Use the School’s Tech Center
The school tech center is a great asset to have at school. Like the Health Center, you are paying a tech fee in your tuition so you might as well take advantage of it. They have free downloads of Microsoft Office so you do not have to spend a lot of money for the program. They can also help you with Blackboard, Canvas, and anything tech related. You can also check out things like laptops, cameras, and headphones to use.

Bus System
If you live in Bellingham you will most likely not need a parking pass because of how great the bus system is! As long as you are taking at least six credits then you can get a bus pass on your student ID card for free! Make sure you check the bus times before the first day of school so you don’t have to worry about being late.

Research where you want to live
If you don’t know many people you might want to consider living in campus housing. There are a lot of options for campus housing so don’t think that you will be stuck in a triple bedroom with two crazies and one bathroom. If you don’t want to live in a dorm, think about where you want to be around town. Being close to school is important because there are more students in the area. North campus is great if you want to be closer to downtown for night life and may have a great view of the bay. South campus is also nice if you don’t care about downtown and the houses are generally newer than the ones on north campus. *Try not to rent from big rental companies because they are not as personable and are often just out for your money.
